Plaistow cancer survivor reacts to Armstrong ruling

PLAISTOW, N.H. ?

Lance Armstrong has been erased from the record books.

On Monday, he was officially stripped of his seven Tour de France titles from 1999 to 2005 in the wake of the doping scandal in cycling.

However, one New Hampshire woman who met Armstrong several times said he's more than his titles and still a hero to her.

"When I first met him, I ran into him on my bike -- literally ran into him," Vanessa Underwood said.

Underwood has the pictures hanging up in her Plaistow home to prove it.

She first met Armstrong in 2004 when she was battling against cancer. At one point, she was so sick her sister read Armstrong's book to her.

"'If he can do it, I can do it,' and it so inspired me that my goal was to ride with him," Underwood said.

Underwood was not a cyclist but she does operate a fitness studio out of her home.

She later became active in Livestrong and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Underwood is a survivor herself. She's had three kidney transplants during her battle against cancer.
